As a user of a co-branded airline card that allows you to earn credit card frequent flyer points every time you swipe it, you keep experiencing the thrill of dreaming about the free vacation that your frequent flyer credit card points will eventually earn for you. This is because when you redeem your generic credit card frequent flyer points, a ticket is bought for you by a travel agency rather than your getting a free ticket aboard a flight.

But the advantage of sticking to an airline specific program is that many airlines allow card holders to double their credit card frequent flyer points by participating in double dips. Some also offer bonus credit card frequent flyer points on availing specific services.

Thus, there are both negative and positive aspects to both kinds of frequent flyer credit cards. But all in all, cards offering frequent flyer credit card points redeemable for airline tickets are one of the best kinds of reward credit cards available. This is because frequent flyer points let you win tickets which will otherwise take months of savings to buy. So go ahead and start collecting your miles!
